Valperga, Piemonte regione, ItalyPieces of history of Valperga, Italy
Valperga is a comune (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Turin in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 35 kilometres (22 mi) north of Turin, in the Canavese historical region. The church of San Giorgio (the farthest church at the top) is one of the most important medieval churches of the upper Canavese. The oldest parts of the church and the bell tower date back to the eleventh century, and are therefore coeval of the castle adjacent to the church. The closest tower is instead the bell tower of Santissima Trinita's church. The oldest news of this church is in a 1454 convention between the municipality of Cuorgnè and the Counts of Valperga conserved in the municipal archives of Cuorgnè.
