A person identifying himself as a collector said on one site that tokens were actually used in brothels in such countries as France, Spain and Argentina, but never any authentic brothel tokens in the United States. There were brothels in some saloons in U.S. but no tokens issued for sex. Tokens were issued for drink or cigar.
