Cooperation De Werkman was a socialist organisation with a bakery and a food store in Ledeberg, close to Gent. It was founded in June 1883, for 30 years (I don't know how to interpret this, it was taken from the catalog and translated literally from Dutch).

This token is mentioned in footnote #24 in the catalog “Het Huisgeld van de Gentse S.M. VOORUIT Nr. 1” (Andre Despretz, 1982). Year of issue: unknown, but before 1893, since Antoine Fisch handed over the company to his son in 1892.

A square token with denomination 1 of “ De Werkman"  exists.
