The National Peace Jubilee was a musical event in Boston, Massachusetts on June 1869.It commemorated the return of peace after the end of the Civil War.
Organized by bandleader Patrick S. Gilmore, the festival featured a thousand-piece orchestra and choruses from throughout the country.
Organizers built a temporary coliseum -- depicted on this medal -- to seat an audience of 30,000.
