The café-hotel Basfroi, at no. 44 rue Basfroi, was acquired in 1901 by an Aveyron man named Boutié, who is said to have taken the initiative of opening a ball there. In 1922, a couple from Aveyron also took over. To reflect their origins and the regional character of the establishment, it was christened "Au Massif Central". After the war, the ball was enlarged, modernized and equipped with an original round dance floor, making it one of the most popular in Paris.
