The Royal Church of Târgoviște, former chapel of the Royal Court, is a historical and architectural monument, founded by Petru Cercel (1585). The place was repaired during the reign of Constantin Brâncoveanu, between the years 1698–1699, the administrator of the works being the great governor Ianache Văcărescu. The paintings were executed by the painter Constantinos in 1702.
Mircea the Elder (Romanian: Mircea cel Bătrân, 1355 – 31 January 1418) was the Voievode of Wallachia from 1386 until his death in 1418. He was the son of Radu I of Wallachia and brother of Dan I of Wallachia, after whose death he inherited the throne.
