Comment
On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the canton of Neuchâtel's entry into the Confederation, a commemorative medal was struck and produced based on an idea proposed by two young Neuchâtel students who are passionate about the canton and its history. The medal, designed by Eloi Perregaux-Dielf, a student at the School of Applied Arts in La Chaux-de-Fonds, was selected in a competition. He explains about the reverse side of the medal: "It is the thread and the needle that have made it possible to bring together these two pieces of country to form one and thus create the relief of this canton. The seam that is suggested determines the border of the canton of Neuchâtel and symbolises the joining to Switzerland."Price
