Comment

Token from the café den Pierre Lahr and Elise Engel. Pierre Lahr had run the establishment since the early 1920s. He died on February 27, 1945, and his widow subsequently took over the café.

The present token was minted between 1961 and 1966 by the Fisch & Cie workshops in Brussels. The total mintage (4 issues) was 1,700.

Weiller type token no. 44. The legend A. NIMAX LUXBG is generally associated with a "Bock" (136 tokens) and not with a stein (4 known tokens, including 2 listed by R. Weiller [c.f. ML 118]).
