Comment

In 1891, the ex-Bal du siècle gave way to the café-concert "Gaîté des Gobelins", which failed to live up to expectations. In July 1894, Ernest Pacra (son of Jules Pacra) bought it, restored it and the "Fauvette" became the first link in the chain of "Concerts Pacra", of which there were to be three more. In this vast, 1,000-seat hall, the establishment enjoyed exemplary success. On Pacra's death, his wife took over the management of the family concerts until February 1928, when she relinquished it to Marguerite Affre, the deceased's daughter. La Fauvette was one of the last neighborhood concerts to yield to the pressures of cinema (1937). Madame Affre continued to run the venue until 1960. Today, it is a five-screen complex.
