Comment
In order to encourage the improvement of horse breeding, King Oscar II issued a decree on the first of November 1872, stating that a special reward medal should be awarded by Stuteri överstyrelsen (stud farm executive board) at annual meetings, to owners of proven young horses, who were considered worthy of being awarded a prize
When the mint in Stockholm minted these medals (1875-1939), the silver medals were awarded in a simple colored square box with a sliding lid, and sometimes with the name of the horse, and the year the medal was awarded written on.
The reverse signature on these are weaker than usual, due to the dice being engraved differently.
Weight typically varies between 37,5 to 38,5 g.
