Comment

"Medallic Portraits of Adolf Hitler" by Colbert and Hyder; catalog number C#15. These were issued between 1932 and 1933, or perhaps later, to raise money for the Nazi movement in Austria. This is one of the very few denominated pieces featuring a portrait of Adolf Hitler. This is denominated as a 1 Schilling and as the Third Reich attempted to introduce propaganda into Austria for the purposes of convincing the populace to unite with Germany, these were given out in exchange for an Austrian Schilling donation. This unification eventually occurred with the Austrian Anschluss in 1938.
