Comment
This type is sometimes presented as a 6 tari coin of the grand master because of the general condition of the copies which would seem to indicate circulation of the object. This sole argument seems weak to validate the monetary value of the object. In addition, its design is similar to contemporary coins (especially those of 30 and 15 tari), and its weight is close to that of a 6 tari or 7 tari.
However, all similar types -without known exception- carry a mark of value at the bottom when issued with monetary intent. In addition, large variations in weight are known for this type, making the monetary attribution hypothetical with respect to the smaller relative variations of other contemporary currency types, as well as the general quality of the Order's coinage at that time.
With current knowledge, this type therefore does not seem to be monetary but more commemorative, inspired by monetary types.
