These were made for use at the explorer And missionary, Knud Rasmussen's established Thule-Kap York trading station. Establish in 1910. Located in north-western Greenland. Rasmussen named it "Thule" . from classical and medieval literature, meaning of any distant place located beyond the "borders of the known world".
Low mintages of 5,000 coins each for the 5- and 25-ore, and 2,000 for the 100- and 500-ore pieces dated 1910
In 1940-41, after years in circulation, a total of 50,000 pieces of 25-ore denomination were brought to New York, where a central hole was punched in the coins, apparently to avoid confusing them with the 1-krone coins.
Thule-Kap York Trading Station had two more coins struck in 1932 issues of 5 Kroner and 10 Kroner which were struck in Denmark.
