Comment

The Basel General Consumers' Association (ACV) was founded in 1865. The principles of the consumers' associations were to obtain the most essential economic needs at the lowest possible prices in times of economic hardship. In 1890, various consumer associations merged to form the Association of Swiss Consumer Associations (VSK). The Basel ACV existed until 1969, when the VSK was reorganised on a large scale (swisscollections.ch).
