Bloomington is the county seat of Monroe county. In 2020 census they had a population of almost 80 Thousand people.
Fouth most Populated area outside of the Indianapolis area. In 1818 a group of settlers from Kentucky , Tennessee, The Carolinas and Virginia established the city. When they arrived the fields were so full of blooms they decided they had to call th city Bloomington. Two years later Indiana Iniversity was established there.
