Comment
This is a token of the socialist consumer organization (or cooperative) Vooruit (Forward) (1880-1970) which was founded as a cooperative bakery to protect the factory workers against the instability of big capital. It is listed as #39A (1921) / #39B (1928) in the catalog “Het huisgeld van de Gentse S.M. VOORUIT Nr.1” - Andre Despretz, 1982. A variety in medal alignment exists (RRR). The depicted allegory actually existed as a plaster model for a statue.
Some tokens from 1928 show the old date (1921) under the new date (1928), which can be seen with the naked eye.
Unlike mentioned in some catalogs, the material for this token is copper-nickel, not nickel, as can be proven with the help of a magnet.
