Sleeping Buffalo Hot Springs & Resort traces its origins to the 1920s when wildcat oil riggers struck water instead of oil, which was used to fill bathtubs for cowboys. The resort was a New Deal project during the Great Depression and eventually included an indoor and outdoor pool and a golf course. It closed in the 1980s/1990s, but was renovated and reopened in 2015. The resort is named for the sacred Sleeping Buffalo Rock with links to numerous indigenous American tribes.
