This coin was developed and designed to be used as currency in a restaurant in Quebec City (Canada). This is the medieval restaurant ''La Chope Gobeline'', located at 966 boul. West, Quebec City(http://www.lachopegobeline.com/)The owners minted a series of 200 original pieces in 2010, as well as a second edition in 2018, also of 200 pieces. In 2019, 100 to 150 ecus were minted with no amount inscribed on them, redeemable for consumption only.
The coins were all struck by a local Quebec company, under the name ''Gravure Universelle - Maître Graveur - Art et haute technologie depuis 1958''.(http://www.gravureuniverselle.ca/index.aspx)
