This 5 cent token was used as wage payment for workers of the Gulf Mining Company in Crab Orchard, W.V. They then had to redeem it in the company store. There were at least 5 different denomination tokens that the workers were paid with.The link below has some pictures of the Gulf Mining Company coal camp.
