House of the People OUGREE province of LIEGE BelgiumThe Houses of the People were meeting places for the Belgian working class. They were the crucible of protesting struggles, educational or recreational actions. They greatly contributed to the awareness of the working class and made it possible to obtain real social progress in terms of political rights and access to education. Their equivalent in France is the Bourses du Travail, in addition to the maisons du peuple.
From 1970 onwards, a period of decline began for these buildings which were reassigned when they were not razed
