Comment
There is no 40 francs Cérès gold coin. This token is probably inspired by the 40 francs with the olive wreath motif, such as the 40 francs Napoléon Empereur, and on the obverse we recognize the Cérès d'Oudiné which has been exchanged from left to right. The Oudiné motif is used, for example, on the 5 francs Cérès IIIè république.
This token features the two hallmarks of the Francis Cartaux workshop: an FC monogram and a triangle containing the letters FC and a quartaut.
