Żary [ˈʐarɨ] (Żarow in Lower Sorbian; German: Sorau) is a historic town in western Poland, located in Lubusz voivodeship (since 1999), the capital of Żary powiat. The largest city in the Polish part of Lusatia, Żary is one of the most important economic and cultural centers in the southern part of the voivodeship and richly deserves to bear the name of the capital of Polish Lusatia.
