There was actually an establishment by the name of The Octoroon in LA in the late 1800's early 1900's. Found an article in The Los Angeles Herald about it dated 12/2/1904.The Octorroon was a Theater where live shows were performed. I could not find any information of it being a brothel.
The term "octoroon" refers to a person of 1/8 black ancestry. A show of the name Octoroon was written and introduce In 1859, by white Irish playwright Dion Boucicault. It presented the intrigation of black people into mixed heritage society. The story has been rewritten several times and shown in several places besides Los Angeles. One other I know of is Sacramento California.
However, Numismatist reports that these tokens are actually 1960's souvenirs.
