Justus H. Rathbone founded the Knights of Pythias on February 19, 1864, basing the ritual on the mythological friendship of Damon and Pythias. Social and charitable activities are directed towards enhancing the great principles of the Order, friendship, charity, and benevolence, which are adhered to very strongly through contributions of money, time, effort, and supplies with an eventual aim and goal of the betterment of mankind.Logo of the Knights of Pythias.
