The Nicolas Weber-Weydert café was located at 45, rue Principale in Sandweiler from 1899 to 1945. Three different types of token were minted. The present type (Weiller# MS 034) differs only slightly from Weiller# MS 033:- MS 033: diameter 21.5 mm - beaded line with 20 beads - height from 20 to right 5 mm
- MS 034: diameter 22.0 mm - beaded line with 8 beads - height from 20 to right 7 mm
Until 1925, these tokens were used for bowling with wooden lanes on a sand bed. There were nine pins (not three), and each player played with three balls (see Weiller p. 427).
In Germany, the spelling change from WERTH-MARKEN to WERT-MARKEN took place around 1900. In Luxembourg, the WERTH-MARKE had a prolonged existence and was still supplied in parallel with the WERT-MARKE until 1921 (see R. Weiller pp 39-40).
