From 12 April to 19 June 1928, the Milan International Exhibition Fair took place, dedicated to the tenth anniversary of the victory of the First World War. For the occasion, the Organizing Committee, repeating what has already been done for the 1906 Exhibition, commissioned the Johnson plant in Milan to supply 2 lire tokens of gilded bronze so that they could be spent, and converted into legal currency, within the Fair. Furthermore, these tokens were also used within the Fascist Revolution Exhibition, held in Rome in 1932 at the exhibition building [Gigante 2016, p. 175].
As a curiosity for amateurs, gold and silver specimens were coined of this token, some of which were handed over to the personalities who attended the inauguration of the event [Nascia 1984, p. 17].
