The "Domaine Tabet" is an agricultural estate of Mechrafe (Al Mishrifeh - Qatna - a village near Homs).
During the period of the French Mandate over Syria and Lebanon (1920-1946), a Lebanese entrepreneur and rich merchant of the Tabet family (Beirut) invested in agriculture, land development and irrigation in Mechrefe. Syria.
These tokens are witnesses of this time when they were used as official currency in the Tabet area and also all around the village of Mechrefe. It appears that M Tabet made a deposit to the "Bank of Syria and Greater Lebanon" to issue this series of tokens. The coins were made in Paris by the engraver Jourde (with the letters CHJ)
