Sweet was founded in 1885 by Ezekiel Sweet to supply settlers in the Lower Squaw Creek Valley. After the Thunder Mountain gold strike, Sweet grew significantly, it supported three saloons, three hotels, several businesses and a newspaper before the mines stopped bearing ore.
