Philadelphia Suburban Transportation Co. built the cars that ran on the Red arrow line. Operation of the train was at night. It ran from New york city to Detroit Michigan. Operation of 'The Red Arrowwere' under the control of the Pennsylvania Railroad. Terminals were at Washington, D.C. , Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Detroit, Michigan. Distance travelled 756.6 miles. Once a night. First only offering eastbound travel only. The next year it started the west bound service. The system was shrunk down in steps from April 29, 1956 and July 26, 1959. It had its last run on July 26, 1960. The red arrow suffured a horrific accident with the derailling of the train east bound train the morning of 18 Feb. 1947. 22 of it's 200 passengers died. The spirit of the employees of the railroad cleared and rebuilt the track in only 2 days.
