Comment
This Silver Merlion medallion was released by the Singapore Mint, at a time when the mint was a department of the Chartered Industries of Singapore (CIS). This is clearly denoted by the logo on the reverse. The Singapore Mint was set up as a department in the CIS in 1968. The Mint became a wholly-owned subsidiary of SembCorp Industries in 1998, SembCorps being a subsidiary of the giant Temasek Holdings (Pte) Ltd Singapore. The medallion were sometimes seen in a clear acrylic case with a blue holder showing the title and composition of the medal.
