Printer: National Manufacturing CompanyThese tokens were the same size as milk bottle caps made by the same company. The first pieces were printed on the cardboard already prepared for milk bottle stoppers. These first pieces have the word SANITARY and a patent date, or just a patent date, stamped into the reverse. Because of the size, the tokens were called, among other names, milktops.
Varieties:
MO-S1 — normal issue; border and state seal are blue
MO-S1A — border and state seal are orange instead of blue
MO-S1a — pressure stamp on reverse (either partial or complete): SANITARY / PAT. 8-19-19
MO-S1b — pressure stamp on reverse: PAT. - / 8-19-19
