Genneva Malaysia was established in 2002 as a syariah compliant gold trading company. This was followed by the formation of Genneva Sdn Bhd in 2007, the registration of Genneva Pte Ltd in Singapore and the official launch of Genneva Malaysia Sdn Bhd in 2010. The Singapore Lion Head gold bars were offered under an investment buyback scheme between 2008 and 2012. The bars offered ranged in sizes, from as small as 1 gram and 10 grams to larger bars of 50 grams, 100 grams, and even kilos. The scheme was eventually exposed as a ponzi scheme and investigations would eventually result in the biggest gold trading scandal in Malaysia, leading to prosecutions and closure of the company.

This tiny 1 gram gold bar was minted in Singapore and encased in a yellow acrylic case. The case has the name of the company, composition of the gold and year of issue on the front (first image). On the back is the name of the gold bark along with the country of manufacture (second image).
