Initiated in 1260, the Dominican Fair, a summer attraction in Gdańsk from late July to mid-August and one of Poland's biggest commercial and artistic events, brings together stalls of craftsmen, trestles of jugglers and street performers. More than a thousand merchants, artists and collectors liven up the stalls in the streets of the Old Town. You can buy works of art, ceramics, fabrics, jewelry, old books...
The market and its surroundings are also renowned for their many events: brass band concerts, street theater and dance performances. Orchestras and artists perform in the street.
A friendly atmosphere guaranteed, where street commerce and fun are the order of the day.

Ulica Mariacka: This cobbled street, between St. Mary's Gate and the church of the same name, is the most charming in Gdańsk and one of the most photogenic in Poland. It was almost entirely reconstructed after the Second World War on the basis of photos, illustrations and other archival material; all the original ornaments salvaged from the rubble have been reused, including numerous gargoyles.

Its charm is largely due to the fact that it is the only street in the city lined with an uninterrupted row of terraced houses. In recent years, the area has come alive with craft stores (especially amber jewelry), pleasant bars and cafés, and one of the country's most charming hotels (the Gotyk House). During the St. Dominic's Fair, some of the best stalls are set up here.
